Mack International Founder and President Delivers Keynote Address for Private Banking and Family Office Summit–Asia 2016 Held in Qingdao, China, September 7-9

Linda C. Mack of Chicago-based Mack International was invited to serve as Elder of Council at the 5th Private Banking & Family Office Summit in Asia, September 7-9 Qingdao, Shandong Province where she delivered the keynote address and spoke at several other sessions throughout the conference.

Linda C. Mack, founder and president of Mack International, the premier retained executive search and human capital/talent management consulting firm serving the family office/family enterprise and wealth management industry was invited to participate as Elder of Council at the 5th Private Banking & Family Office Summit in Asia, September 7-9.

The conference, attended by over 60 ultra-high net worth families, 100+ local family wealth management companies and a group of female representatives who are second generation family members sharing the common goal of becoming a family CFO. They are called The Sorority–a professional association, some of whom have taken initial steps to manage their family’s respective fortunes. Linda Mack’s keynote presentation was delivered in a closed door family session to this group. “These young women are successors to the Patriarch and family business enterprise. They’re focused on learning together to be better leaders, managers and stewards of their family’s wealth and enterprises.”

Linda’s presentation in the closed door family session on the opening day of the conference was entitled, “Creating a Family Office–Recruiting and Retaining Key Leadership Talent.” It covered how to select a Family Office model, including decisions regarding insourcing versus outsourcing; a proven best practice process for recruiting and retaining key talent; and a case study demonstrating how Family Offices evolve. Linda emphasized the importance of both the right people and the right process in creating a successful Family Office.

“It is important to recognize that families are dynamic, not static. Decisions regarding family office structure, services offered and insourcing vs. outsourcing need to be revisited as family needs and circumstances evolve and change over time and generations.”

On subsequent days of the summit Linda participated in sessions on a wide variety of topics including Family Wealth, Family Meetings, and Succession Planning. “One of the liveliest sessions was about “SHE power” and what distinctive leadership traits women in particular bring to the CFO role. We also compared similarities and contrasted differences between female executives in China with their sisters in the United States,” said Linda. “I personally feel we share more similarities than differences.”    

The Family Office is an emerging sector of the Chinese economy and seeks to benefit from lessons learned in the west. Considered by leaders of the conference to be a thought leader and expert in the Family Office industry, Linda Mack was given the distinction of being named an Elder of Family Council with the intent of sharing her “insights and wisdom” with summit attendees.

In the final session, Linda Mack joined David Drake, founder of LDJ Capital (USA) and two of the founders of the Sorority for a wrap up of the conference highlighting key learnings and future collaboration. Linda has been invited to return to be part of future conferences slated for 2017.
