Linda Mack of Mack International was asked to lead a Family Office Roundtable for Campden Wealth’s ‘Annual Families Investing with Impact and Innovation Forum’ held in Minneapolis, MN., on June 14 and 15, 2023.

DALLAS (PRWEB) JULY 27, 2023 – Linda Mack of Mack International was asked to lead two sessions at a Family Office Roundtable for Campden Wealth’s ‘Annual Families Investing with Impact and Innovation Forum.’ The meeting, attended by Family Office executives and family members was held in Minneapolis, MN., at the Four Seasons Hotel on June 14 and 15, 2023.

Participants were asked to select topics of interest they would like discussed. Among the topics chosen were:

• Generational Leadership Shifts/Transitions
• Insourcing vs. Outsourcing Family Office Services
• Building your own Family Office vs. using an outside firm
• Next Generation Education and Governance

Thematic roundtables encourage family office leaders to interactively share their experiences with one another and explore best practices and solutions for the challenges they all face.

In building a Family Office, Linda Mack emphasized the importance of clearly identifying the scope of clients to be served, the services to be offered and what will be insourced versus outsourced for the most efficiency and effectiveness. “The most successful Family Enterprises build a professional services business providing a clear value proposition…resonating so strongly and positively with family clients that they “choose” to do business with the family office.”

In terms of leadership roles, Linda talked about the importance of having an ‘Expert Generalist’ in the C-suite to ensure success. Linda defines this person as, “…someone with a strong business, financial and investment acumen, who not only has knowledge across the horizontal spectrum of all wealth management functional disciplines but also understands the interconnectivity inherent between all and the implications across multiple disciplines of any decision.” Linda described leaders of the future as having the ability to think critically and be more strategic and proactive vs. reactive.

On the topic of Next Gen Education and Governance, families discussed how to transition values of the family to rising generations. Several families shared the importance of when and how to start the transition for succession. “As transitions occur or circumstances change, an effective succession plan must be reviewed and adapted to ensure it continues to meet each family’s unique needs over time,” offered Linda.

The roundtable briefly discussed the family office of the future and how it is evolving vis a vis systems, processes, enhancing technology and learning more about Artificial Intelligence.

In both sessions, it was clear participants benefited from shared perspectives. Everyone learned from others’ best practices, approaches, and experiences. Linda confirmed that in her experience over 25 years working with families the saying “when you’ve seen one family, you’ve seen one family” Is definitely true. “At the end of the day, every family is unique and has to make the decisions that will serve them at the highest level. These forums offer an opportunity to gain incredible insight from others who have common interests and have experienced similar challenges and to apply the benefit of that knowledge to their Family Office.”
